Part of a series of project notebooks accompanying the exhibition ‘Absent Architectures of the 20th Century’ which examines architectural projects from the last century that were never built, have been drastically altered or demolished. The ‘Parallel’ city for rest and recreation, along with the portable bungalow was designed by G.A.T.C.P.A.C (Group of Catalan Architects and Technicians for the Improvement of Contemporary Architecture) was designed between 1931-35 in an attempt to address the collective need for recreation areas. These thousands of small bungalows were never realised, but are documented here through photographs of prototypes, models, plans, sketches and essays.
