Since its inception in the 1960s, the Rubell Collection has been able to boast a particularly fine selection of African-American art. Recent successful exhibitions in New York inspired the Rubell family to mount an exhibition of their holdings in this area that has also been reproduced here in this catalogue, ‘30 Americans.’ Including a late addition to the exhibition line-up that took the tally to 31 artists, the exemplary survey includes works by the following: Jean-Michel Basquiat, Mark Bradford, Nick Cave, David Hammons, Barkley L.
