Bringing together references from Galileo and The Sims to twentieth-century astronomy poster girls and Musk’s Mars Colony, Caress Your Vision applies a feminist perspective to a field shaped by narratives of male genius. Ellie Wyatt examines how gender is represented within the scientific imaginary, particularly through images depicting men as legitimate researchers and women as presenters. Drawing on found images from popular astronomy magazines and a three-part essay, the publication explores women’s histories in astronomy alongside the connections between space science, magic, utopianism, and colonialism. It also considers contemporary space exploration and its growing entanglement with politicised Big Tech and technological power.
