Inspired by the mythologies and artistic movements that have shaped the forest of Fontainebleau, which lies about 60 kilometres south-east of Paris, this book by photographer Philippe Jarrigeon recounts the memories of the landscape as a comic and philosophical tale. It brings together a series of staged scenes, composing a visual journey in which reality, history, and different eras intertwine. We encounter a fatal boulder, a tightrope-walking hiker, an abandoned château, a lost knight, a hobby painter… and a touch of magic. A walk through the woods where everything seems perfectly ordinary. And yet, infused with an excess of oxygen, the mind begins to wander.
