Soren is Lola Raban’s nephew by marriage. Over the last ten years she has photographed him between Martinique and Paris. Both of them share a fascination for making images, but from opposite sides of the camera. This book tells a story of the boy, of his characters, and of the passage of time. Raban’s work is often drawn to the space where the real and the constructed become difficult to tell apart. These photographs are always posed, always deliberate, and yet they carry the weight of something real about Soren.
