The collaboration ‘Dance Deluxe’ between German artist Olaf Nicolai and Dubrovnik-based sculptor Mariana Pende is an homage to one of the last refuges of the local Dubrovnik population, Danče, a public beach and meeting place for generations, and a place to enjoy outdoor life in summer. Visitors find themselves in an area that looks like a large playground made of stone, with a variety of small buildings of variable function that have been spontaneously created and still seem to be changing. The publication features fragments of the imaginary architectural space of “Danče Beach”, which was re-enacted in 2023 in a joint exhibition at the Meštrović Pavillon in Zagreb.
