Following the success of Poetricks (2022), Stefano Calligaro presents a new selection from his ongoing series of literal “poetical-tricks,” this time in Italian. By modifying familiar words and terms, Poetricks challenges social and cultural codes through visual simplicity and a precise, deliberate (mis)use of language. Neither ironic, political, comical, nor socially engaged, the works resist categorisation, leaving interpretation entirely to the reader. Conceived as a “visual ecology of signs and meanings,” the series offers an alternative to today’s hyper-spectacle in art and culture. Poetricks are artworks, minimal poems, and tools for questioning art, language, and poetry.
