In ‘Wire Drawings’, Ulrike Brückner appropriates functional photographs used on sales platforms such as eBay. These leftover cable scraps are often tossed in boxes or piles for sale and presented in private rooms, lying on the floor. Brücker’s photographs move beyond this mundanity to recall virtuoso drawings or paintings with an expressive style. She experiments with motifs and the space of the image, replacing the original surroundings with black, partially processed backgrounds. The contextual shift changes our view of the object, allowing the multifaceted beauty of the cable arrangements to emerge through the serial representation of the new visual worlds she has composed.
