This publication, which accompanied an exhibition held at Hauser & Wirth London in 2016, brings together a group of works spanning from 1955 to 2001. The precise incised lines of Pape’s ‘Tecelares’ woodcut prints and drawings of the 50s and 60s marry pure geometry with organic patterns. Her subsequent ‘Ttéia’ installations present captivating explorations of geometry, space and materiality. ‘Ttéia n.7’, consisting of two pyramids of blue pigment in a blacked-out room lit with blue light from above, foregrounds a questioning of the purity of art and the boundary between colour, light and material. The book’s deep blue cover as well as its translucent blue pages, bound-in throughout, pay homage to this work.
