A collective of nine members who share a background in architecture, raumlabor developed in 1999 from a common interest in an expanded understanding of architecture and urban practice. Their working method is situational and action-oriented, with a focus on the collaborative production of space as an open and unbiased process. ‘Water Works’ accompanies an eponymous exhibition at Toto Gallery in Tokyo and explores the potential of “water” as a theme for public space, architecture, and collective urban life. It features past works alongside new research focused on Tokyo Bay, examining how the waterfront can function as a space for everyday use.
