In the mid-1980s, photographer Trevor Key overturned the conventions of the analogue darkroom, producing vivid, abstract images that remain as modern now as they were then. This collection of work by Key is the first to celebrate his process and prescience across more than two decades (1972–1995). At the book’s visual core is the experimental collaboration between Key and art director Peter Saville. They shared a personal quest to move beyond the framework of conventional client work, rethink image-making, and generate a truly independent, speculative creative flow. The works embody the freedom of collaborative process – a roadmap for creating the visuals of our own time.
