Ahmad Aminnazar: Metamorphosis
Ahmad Amin Nazar is cited as an influence by many upcoming Persian contemporary artists. After studying in Tehran he settled in Cologne, where his exposure to art historical movements and themes served to strengthen his ties with the classic literature and art of Iran; he returned there to teach in 1994. A master of line and form – and painting recently with acrylics – Amin Nazar's strident, sometimes chaotic canvases depict a fantastical world where the ordinary and bizarre co-exist, and where subverted Iranian narratives and folk memories evolve into a new and occasionally shocking vernacular.
