Danish artist Lotte Fløe Christensen explores grief, longing, fragility, and connection in this book. Through a poetic and subtly humorous collection of photographic notes and observations, personal experiences of loss intertwine with images of earth, graves, traces, and constructions. The title refers to frost heaving, a geological phenomenon in which stones are gradually pushed upwards through the soil by cycles of freezing and thawing. This movement becomes a metaphorical space between the grounded and the transcendent, the rational and the spiritual – a desire to believe in a form of magic that might surpass the physical world. This is the artist’s second publication.
