From the outset, De Marco has conceived painting as a device for observation, a testing ground for measuring the gap between what is visible and what can be represented. His works do not describe the world but question the ways it appears to us. Drawing on digital language as a perceptual condition, he incorporates interfaces, browser windows, and social media grids as latent structures. Rather than opposing the digital, he translates it into material form. In an age of speed-images, his layered, time-based paintings resist excess visibility, restoring space for attention, reflection, and a more conscious experience of seeing.
