The first volume in the series takes its name from Giacomo Zaganelli’s project in Tuscany. Between 2010 and 2018 he worked to stimulate increased awareness about an issue that is highly relevant today: abandoned heritage as a resource. In addition to mapping forgotten places in the region, his research aims to focus on historical memory, land consumption, and reuse strategies. The book translates Zaganelli’s digital project into an artists’ guide structured on two levels. Firstly, six itineraries through roughly 40 interesting locations; and secondly, pages which represent the artist’s notebook, with superimposed personal annotations and sketches to complement the text.
