What Do Museums Connect? Museums in a Post-Pandemic World
‘What Museums Do’, a research project at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA), examines practices and future possibilities of contemporary art museums. The series’ fourth volume focuses on the role of museums in society in a post-pandemic world, and the influence of technology. The 2021 online symposium had the theme of ‘connection’ and consisted of two parts – which is also reflected in this book – ‘Boundaries Dissolved: Other Variables’ and ‘New Dimensions: Directions of Practice.’ Ten contributors from various cultural backgrounds share in-depth essays that can help museums face the challenges of these times and to find a new direction.
