Sparked by protest movements, shifts in academic discourse, and amplified voices of communities long excluded from cultural institutions, in the last fifteen years, long-standing norms such as the autonomy of art, the neutrality of exhibition spaces, and the hegemony of Western art history have been increasingly questioned.
