Ghent-based photographer Boris Snauwaert’s images are poetic and suggestive. Operating from this perspective, they do not tell a straightforward story, but rather evoke a certain atmosphere that leaves space for interpretation. This plurality of deciphering and understanding is found not only in the work itself but also in its presentation. The scenes Snauwaert captures emerge in nature, in urban surroundings, or on “terrains vagues” – frayed edges in the landscape – yet the images can never be fully grasped. ‘Sliver’ appears with four differently coloured covers, each bringing with it a unique atmosphere, and thereby a certain integration of the work within.
