Atelier JQTS is an architecture studio working between Lisbon, Portugal, and Kühsen, Germany. Led by João Quintela and Tim Simon-Meyer, their practice comprises a serial research into the open field of architecture combined with a process of learning from empirical experience. They are thus characterised by a continuous interplay between practice, teaching, and research. In response to current challenges facing the discipline, they address themes such as reversibility, robustness, and the reuse of materials and buildings, thereby exploring approaches to sustainable tectonics. The magazine features texts by Pezo von Ellrichshausen, José Manuel Pedreirinho, and Marta Sequeira.
