Carole Vanderlinden’s first monograph celebrates more than a decade of her artistic practice, featuring nearly 200 paintings and works on paper. The publication includes texts by novelist Jean-Philippe Toussaint, essays by curators Ann Hoste, Ory Dessau, and Hans den Hartog Jager, and a conversation with musician Joëlle Léandre. Born in Brussels in 1973, Vanderlinden has developed a highly improvisational approach to painting since the mid-1990s. Working across painting, drawing, watercolor, collage, and objects, she moves fluidly between figuration and abstraction, guided by intuition, color, rhythm, and the expressive possibilities of her materials.
