The social coherence and commitment demonstrated by Grafton Architects, established in 1978 by Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara, has garnered this year’s Pritzker Prize, the first ever to be conferred on a partnership of women. Arquitectura Viva celebrates the accolade by publishing the interview they jointly gave in the course of the ‘Necessary Architecture’ congress held in Pamplona in 2014, fielding questions from journalist Antonio Lucas, and by featuring a couple of the Irish firm’s most recent works: Kingston University in Surrey, close to London, and the Toulouse School of Economics in France.
