Noémie Goudal is inspired by geological theories, especially the question as to whether the things found in nature are the result of mathematical theorems. Goudal’s ‘Démantèlements’ explores this from a particular angle. Although we often see the landscape as something totally fixed, it is in fact in perpetual motion. Even massive rocks, which seem to be frozen in eternity, are being transformed by geological processes. Using a reproduction process involving photography, water-soluble paper printing, laminating on transparent plastic, and image cropping and superposition, Goudal managed to produce large-scale perspectives that somehow blend a mountain into a different landscape.
