Jun Tsunoda - Mineral Sculptures
Jun Tsunoda’s fascination with minerals started at a young age, evidenced by his habit of collecting rocks. For his artistic work, Tsunoda gathers various natural mineral compounds and assembles them into single, solid masses. Set in bases of plaster, the coloured crystals and minerals form sculptural shapes intended to accentuate their natural geometry and beauty. This book consists of photographs of Tsunoda’s creations taken by photographer Keigo Saito, whose techniques further enhance our perception of these shapes. Each possesses an aura both mystifying and primal. The book also features a series of paintings by the artist, based on the sculptures depicted within it.
