The History Of Art According To Instagram
Daniele Rossi has compiled an art book featuring a collection of over 700 pictures taken in museums all over the world and posted on the popular social media platform. Aided by geolocation and Instagram tags, she gathered thousands of posts and rearranged them in a sequence that aspires to be a rendering of the history of art in the age of social media. From the book’s pages emerges the vastness of a virtual museum that grows instantaneously, one selfie at a time, with artworks and museum visitors from around the globe. Rossi’s project reveals how the way in which we experience art has changed and highlights the similarities between different users with the same art piece.
