Drawing on her experience as a migrant cultural worker in Finnish and Baltic contexts, Bita Razavi produces work that blends observation, analysis, and material formalization. Day By Day traces acts of doing, seeing, and resisting over long-term temporalities, while Resistance from Within honors daily gestures that gradually undermine power structures. Spanning fifteen years, the works in this book are organized into three approaches: Objects & Systems, Gesture & Access, and Strategies for Resistance. Razavi employs sociological research across photography, sculpture, and performative installations, engaging with histories of collective struggle. The selection traces her journey from early encounters with Finnish society as a student from Tehran to works in the Estonian Pavilion at the 59th Venice Biennale, concluding with installations connecting her focus on resistance to Iran’s ongoing socio-political revolution. Compiled by Razavi and edited by Àngels Miralda, the book includes essays by Francisco Martínez, Mo Bottomley, Mike Watson, and Brenda Tempelaar.
