Award-winning photographer Daido Moriyama returns with his usual attitude and a collection of images of crowds of people in the streets of Tokyo, Japan. He had been working on a close-up shot of a woman’s voluptuous lips for a billboard when he was inspired to walk over to the nearby entertainment district to continue shooting. These black-and-white photos capture the spirit of the Nishi-Shinjuku neighbourhood, the area where they were shot. He dedicates this instalment of ‘Record’ to Nishi-Shinjuku, and reflects that it had been a while since he had walked and shot in the area.
