See You, Taiwan Special is the third installment in an ongoing series of DIY-style photographic portraits of women in urban settings by James H. Bollen. In this issue, select locations highlight Taiwan's unique character. Alongside themes of the pandemic, the work draws inspiration from sci-fi, surrealism, and the works of J.G. Ballard, Stanley Kubrick, Francis Bacon, and Lao Tzu. The cover photo of Orianna Oi and the portrait of Chiu Yi on page 121 were featured in the 2021 and 2023 Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions in London, respectively.
