'distinguish the limit from the edge' is an intergenerational dialogue between two artists, Theresa Hak Kyung Cha and Jimmy Robert. Their connection emerges in the intersection of text and image, through the shared formal strategies of word play, the fold, and the dissolve. Cha’s groundbreaking avant-garde work deconstructs the three languages she spoke fluently; Korean, English, and French, making misreading a form of expression. Robert, who speaks Creole, French, and English, commits similar trespasses. For both artists, who draw upon their attendant histories as material, the act of writing is always bound up in what is not visible.
