|Maxime Le Bon
In 'Unlimited Joy', Maxime Le Bon fucks with the codes of the press cartoon, magnifying a few bestial inclinations of ours by turning them into burlesque. Conversely, when morality pops up, Le Bon makes sure to quickly reveal how absurd morality itself can be. In his pitiful sketches, there is no difference between a carnival and a pompous opening of an art exhibition, or a funeral and a marital joust. Just as they sidestep authority, Le Bon’s drawings point the finger at what is grotesque in our strict social norms.
