Ester Vonplon’s artistic praxis focuses on places that are – supposedly – still intact and unspoiled. Aware of the fragility of the eco-systems, she tries to capture nature in photographsbefore it possibly disappears due to climate changes and human interventions. The publication provides insight into three of the artist’s current series on which she worked in three different areas in Graubünden. Vonplon documents these landscapes using experimental photographic methods - either photograms of natural finds, like stones, fungi, grasses or feathers, which the sunlight then exposes directly onto historical Cellofix photographic paper, or a disused tunnel as a dark room, or else setting out on her own into rough terrain with a large-format analogue camera.
