'Myanmar Perspectives' is a decade-long investigation into Myanmar’s overlooked photographic history, developed by the Myanmar Photo Archive. It brings forward local visual records while questioning who has the authority to collect, interpret, and own history. Through essays and conversations, the book examines the ethics of archiving, the role of foreign interventions, and the power structures embedded in visual memory. Rather than treating archives as neutral, it exposes them as active forces shaping narrative and visibility. At the same time, it reveals the richness and complexity of post-colonial Myanmar through images made by and for local communities.
