Kigi_m_004 Now And Before
KIGI is Japanese design duo Ryosuke Uehara and Yoshie Watanabe, and this is the fourth edition of their irregularly published magazine. Following the theme “now and before”, it is divided into two parts: the studio’s recent activities and a special feature which explores the backgrounds of the two collaborators. Included in the former is a report on KIGI’s large-scale solo exhibition held at the Utsunomiya Museum of Art in 2017. The creative output of Uehara and Watanabe combines design and illustration with an artistic sensibility, but also induces action by the user, resulting in such diverse things as little vases and carafes, logos, fabric prints, bags, calendars, and more.
