Part of a two-volume set comprising a reprint of all 68 issues of ‘BPM’, a free publication distributed between 1987 and 1993 by the now-closed legendary Tokyo record store CISCO. Originally created to promote the sale of imported 12-inch singles, ‘BPM’ offers a valuable snapshot of the dance music scene of that era. Kylie Minogue, Soul II Soul, Massive Attack, Whitney Houston, Nena, Debbie Gibson, Funkadelic, Crystal Waters, The Sugarcubes, and Todd Terry are just some of the many artists and names music lovers will recognise. With the cooperation of original contributors, this reprinted collection is intended to help preserve the history of dance music culture in Japan and elsewhere.
