Touraj Hamidian sought personal expression in nature photography, especially at a time when that genre in Iran was solely represented through landscaping and Iranology. To confront his viewer with the world he recreates in his pictures – a flat and level world with its two-dimensional nature boosted by reducing the scene’s volume and perspective – Hamidian persistently tries to avoid conventional landscape photography, the display of grandeur and conveying a sense of being present in the setting.
