Jacques Majorelle’s garden, created over four decades by the French painter, stands as a vivid oasis in Marrakech, where he spent most of his life. Beginning in the early 1920s on a generous plot just outside the old city, Majorelle transformed the landscape, painting fountains, pots, and his studio in striking, bold colors that contrasted with the lush greens of the plants. Though he was neither a botanist nor a trained gardener, his vision blended art and nature into a singular masterpiece. Later acquired by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé in 1980, the Jardin Majorelle remains one of the world’s most cherished gardens, celebrated by visitors a century after its creation.
