Cristiano Berti - Boggiano Heirs
Boggiano Heirs is an artist’s book written in the form of a historical essay which interrogates Italy’s pro-slavery past. It focuses on the intangible legacy of Antonio Boggiano, a wealthy merchant from Savona (Italy) who lived in Cuba in the 19th century and owned hundreds of slaves. At the centre of attention is the surname Boggiano, imposed on the slaves and still widespread in the Afro-Cuban community.
