General Trade Terms And Conditions
These terms and conditions apply to companies buying from Idea Books B.V. as a reseller, shop or wholesaler (hereafter, the customer).
By placing a (trade) order with Idea Books, the customer agrees to these terms and conditions.
Ordering
Orders can be placed through a representative, e-mail contact, by telephone, or directly through your account on the trade site.
Please note, titles are reserved on the basis of ‘first come, first served’.
Idea Books works with suppliers from all over the world, and thus also with different currencies. Due to supplier policies or currency fluctuations, prices may therefore change between the time of ordering and invoicing.
First orders from new customers will be supplied on the basis of pre-payment.
Delivery and availability
Orders are subject to stock availability. Idea Books will make every effort to supply the greater part of the customer’s order in one shipment. Items which are not in stock or are being reprinted by the publisher will be kept on backorder.
Backorders will not be cancelled, unless requested by the customer. Backorders will be supplied once items become available. Titles no longer available from the publisher or out of print will be cancelled automatically.
Our suppliers in different parts of the world have a wide range of delivery windows. This means that supplying certain titles may take longer than others.
Shipment schedule and costs
Idea Books supplies using different shipment options. The customer will agree upon a shipment option when setting up an account. Shipment costs will be added to the customer’s invoice, either included in the price or separately, depending on the destination territory and/or weight of the shipment.
We strive to supply all customers in one territory simultaneously, depending on the size of the recorded orders.
Payment
The payment term of our invoices is 30 days after the invoice date, unless agreed upon otherwise.
Idea Books reserves the right to set a credit limit for its customers.
If the customer fails to pay within the required term and/or exceeds the credit limit, we reserve the right to withhold further supply. Please note that titles will not be reserved if the customer’s account is on hold.
Idea Books shall at all times be authorised to require an advance payment which it deems sufficient for the fulfilment of the customer’s payment obligations, before delivering or continuing with the delivery.
We shall have the right to suspend any further deliveries if the customer repeatedly fails to meet the payment requirements.
In the event where the customer’s overdue account must be referred to a debt collection agency and/or attorney, the customer will be liable for all costs which will be incurred, including commission on collection of the additional costs and also including legal demand costs.
All items remain property of Idea Books until the invoice is paid in full. If the customer fails to do so, we reserve the right to repossess our items.
Return policy
As a general policy, Idea Books delivers books on a firm basis. However, there can be exceptions to this rule:
1. Books which have been supplied by mistake or damaged at our end.
2. Titles which have been supplied under our automatic shipment system.
3. Shipments which have been supplied, by agreement, with right of return (for example for exhibitions).
The customer may always, within a reasonable time frame, make return requests for unsold stock. This will usually be granted in the following circumstances:
1. If we, ourselves, think we are able to sell the books.
2. If we have the right to return them to our suppliers.
Books will be credited at the same price as they were most recently invoiced.
Returned books must reach us in mint condition and without price or any other shop stickers. If this is not the case, they will either be sent back at the customer’s expense or credited at a discount of 80%.
Books returned without first obtaining authorisation from Idea Books will be credited at a discount of 80%.
Returns must reach us within three months after the date of return authorisation.
Please return items to
Idea Books, Nieuwe Hemweg 6R, 1013BG Amsterdam.
If you are a customer in the United States, please contact Phillip Galgiani for details on where to ship an authorised return.
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms and Conditions by posting the updated terms on our website.
