Published in dialogue with the retrospective dedicated to Melvin Edwards (22 October 2025–15 February 2026), the Palais de Tokyo invited New York–based BlackMass Publishing to co-publish a zine titled Melvin Edwards - Echoes of the Weld. Conceived by artist and BlackMass founder Yusuf Hassan, the publication offers an intimate meditation on Edwards’s work, imagined as a conversation between sculpture and printed matter. Hassan’s poetic approach reflects a close engagement with Edwards’s philosophy, shaped by visits to his sculptures in New York - particularly those outside institutional settings. These works, exposed to weather, touch, rust, and time, inform a zine that honors materiality, presence, and lived experience.
