Born in Slovakia and schooled in Austria, Gruber has lived in Mexico since 1975, where she has carved out an artistic career deeply influenced by the richness of the Mexican landscape and culture. The book showcases the work of someone who, since the beginning of her artistic exploration, has rigorously and intuitively constructed a unique sculptural language. In 1988, Gruber made her home in Yucatán. In that setting, she commenced her search for symbolic spaces from which to interpret the evolution and intelligence of the natural order through ceramics and clay.
