This first monograph on the work of Ilona Plaum accompanies an eponymous solo exhibition at Huis Marseille in Amsterdam. Drawing, painting, sculpture, and photography are combined into a single image within her artistic practice. While exploring the possibilities of perception, her hand remains deliberately visible. A photographic diorama emerges in which the movement of organic life is central and which, through the fusion of different techniques and perspectives, challenges your perception. Plaum studied goldsmithing at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy before evolving further as a visual artist. The book includes texts by Plaum and art critic and curator Hans den Hartog Jager.
