This architectural photography book documents Sayama Lakeside Cemetery, located in Sayama, Saitama Prefecture, through photographs taken over the course of a year by photographer Risaku Suzuki. The single-story administration and rest building, reminiscent of the half-closed eyes used in meditation, and the chapel – designed to create a sense of unity in which the architecture itself seems to pray together with those who enter – were designed by architect Hiroshi Nakamura. These works have received numerous awards both in Japan and internationally. The book presents 80 pages of architectural photographs alongside an original essay by Nakamura and architectural drawings.
