MONOLITH is the first comprehensive monograph on the work of Dutch painter Robert Zandvliet (b. 1970). Spanning more than three decades (1994–2025), the volume traces his practice from early experiments to the mature, series-based approach that defines his work today. At its centre, curator Andreas Fiedler presents a visual essay—an “exhibition on paper”—that reimagines Zandvliet’s oeuvre across periods and motifs. Essays by Esther Darley, Jan Bor, and Gudrun Knaus further explore his investigations into landscape, colour, gesture, and perception. Designed by Mainstudio as a tactile object, MONOLITH offers an immersive and non-linear journey through Zandvliet’s evolving painterly universe.
